Why are Dentures Cheaper in India than USA?
As compared to the USA, the India dental tourism cost is cheaper due to many reasons. First of all, the cost of running a dental practice in India is more affordable as compared to that in the USA Canada or Australia.
Moreover, most dentists here are not under any student loan, which is reflected in the patient services. Dentists here are purely practicing to grow professionally.[1]
Types of Dentures in India
Dentures are broadly classified into two types,
- Complete Dentures: The patient chooses complete denture when there are no teeth left in their mouth (edentulous patients).
- Partial Dentures: This type of denture is handy when there are still some teeth left in the mouth. Moreover, the patient opts to keep the teeth as such.
Complete Dentures
In edentulous patients (no teeth present), having a complete set of dentures (both upper and lower) is important. The type depends on the budget, aesthetic requirement and the jaw-bone structure of the patient.
By 2020, nearly 37.9 million adults will need one or two complete dentures in the world.[2]
Types of Complete Dentures
Fixed Dentures

They are fixed during chewing and laughing and can be removed at your ease when going to bed or to clean. These are used in patients with low jawbone density. The cost of snap-on dentures in India begins at $1200.
Partial Dentures in India
Partial dentures are recommended when some teeth are still left in the mouth. Along with filling the gap, it also prevents further tooth decay.
There are two types of partial dentures, namely,
- Fixed partial dentures or dental bridge
- Removable partial dentures (RPD)
a. Fixed Dental Bridge
A fixed partial denture or a dental bridge is a restorative set of artificial teeth that are used to replace one or more missing teeth.
A patient must have a healthy bone structure on both sides of the gap to hold a bridge. It has 3 parts
- Pontic: Tooth-like solid structure that replaces the missing teeth
- Crown: A cap or cover that covers adjacent teeth
- Abutment: The neighbouring teeth that are filed to support crown
The dental bridge cost in India begins at $210 only.
b. Removable Partial Dentures
A removable partial denture (RPD) is made of a gum-colored plastic base which artificial teeth are attached. The base is interconnected by a metal framework that holds the denture in place.
