Nuevo Laredo Dental Implants
The following video features Dr. Linda Martinez, the head clinician at Grupo de Especialidades Dentales.
She talks about Mexico for teeth implants, what happens during each appointment and the number of visits required.
She also provides more information about the process that may be useful for dental tourists about the Nuevo Laredo clinic.
“There are different kinds of implants… In some cases, the patient has lost bone, so we need to put the bone in.
The first appointment is generally by the specialist to see if the patient has enough bone, to see the x-rays and to talk to the patient and explain how he is going to carry out the procedure…
...how much time it is going to take, the things that the patient has to do, the price, and the number of visits required, which is usually three.
If the patient has previous test reports, they can send them in advance. In the first appointment, they can have the implants put in. If the patient has the x-rays and cone beam done, the doctor gives the go ahead. The doctor will carry out the surgery.
He will put the implant. Then, we wait for four months for the implants to stick. After a few months, in the next appointment, we see if the implant has stuck.
We take impressions, and we send them to the laboratory to do the crown. In the third appointment, we put in the crowns.
Between the second and the third appointments, the time gap is only a week and a half.”
Laredo, in the Glaretum language, means "a sandy, rocky place."2
Cosmetic Dentistry at the Clinic
In this video, Dr. Martinez talks about cosmetic dentistry. She talks about her nearly twenty-year professional experience in dentistry.
Dr. Martinez has been keeping up to date in her field by continuously pursuing cosmetic dentistry courses.
“Cosmetic dentistry is focused on the front teeth. It is based on veneers, bleaching, and composites.
All of these have to do with all the pretty fittings on the front. It has been 20 years since I got out of school.
We then came here to Nuevo Laredo Mexico. It’s been 18 years since I started as a dentist.
I then took the cosmetic dentistry course as well as another one from Integral, and now I’m taking yet another one for orthodontics.”

Nuevo Laredo is just across the border from Laredo Texas and the nearby cities are San Antonio, Austin, and Houston.
We have been working for 18 years. We have all of the specialists in one place so that the patient doesn’t have to go from one clinic to another.
When we get cases, the difficult ones, we get together… all the doctors… to seek the best treatment for the patient.
We don’t have to go to one clinic or call another doctor to ask ‘what do you think’. So, we have an integrated clinic.
We have everything we need here. We do cosmetic dentistry. We do periodontics, we do endodontics and orthodontics.
We do implants, crowns, bridges, dentures, teeth whitening… everything!
Some professors come from Monterrey. The periodontist, his name is Ernesto Gonzales.
He also teaches at the University in Monterrey called Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon. Additionally, he puts in the implants.
Along with being a member of the American Dental Association. I am a member of many associations in Mexico. This helps us in keeping track of what is happening, what is new… the materials and techniques in dentistry.
We have all the safety measures for the instruments. We have the autoclave. We have the vibration systems. So, we have about 3-4 different systems to clean the instruments.
We use the best materials. We use material from the US where we go for meetings.
All of us, everyone in their area of expertise is on top of their technology. So, we use the best materials available in the market.”
