Junior Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital (Birmingham):

This is a world renowned centre of excellence for elective orthopaedics, tertiary referral centre formusculoskeletal tumors, and birthplace of the hip resurfacing procedure.
This allowed experience with a large number of specialized cases of varying complexity, like:

  • Hip resurfacings, total hip replacements, and revision hip replacements.
  • Unicondylar, patellofemoral, and total knee replacements; as well as revisions.
  • Various arthroscopic procedures on knee and shoulder, like ACL reconstruction, shoulder stabilization, and rotator cuff repair.
  • Paediatric and adult deformity correction using ring fixators and Taylor’s spatial frames.
  • Endoprosthetic replacement of bone following tumor excision or failed arthroplasty.
  • Various hand and ankle-foot surgeries.

Orthopaedic Registrar and SHO:

  • Evaluation of acutely traumatized patients in A&E department and initiation of management as apart of the trauma team.
  • Attending outpatient clinics and fracture clinics.
  • Planning and arrangement of theatre lists, orthopaedic implants and instruments.

SHO in Plastic Surgery:

The unit focused largely on reconstructive limb surgery involving various types of flaps, hand surgery, and brachial plexus reconstructive surgery, apart from routine plastic surgeries like cleft lip and palate repairs, burns management, microvascular and microneural surgeries, and such others.

ORGANISATIONAL AND VOLUNTARY WORK

  • Played a major role in organizing the Pre-WIROC spine workshop 2008 at the K. J. Somaiya Medical College, Mumbai, and worked as a table instructor at the same
